PC Piracy, It’s Deadly For Companies

I’m not going to beat around the bush, PC Piracy is terrible. The guys are Crytek and Epic have been hit hard by all the rampant piracy. How hard?

Unreal Tournament 3 servers received over 40 million attempts at illegitimate access using pirate keys. That number is huge, and the real magnitude comes when you calculate the retail price of $49.99 (59.99 for Collector’s Edition). If those 40 million players actually paid the full price, it would have been nearly $2 billion more in Epic’s pocket book.

And that’s just for UT3. It’s pretty expensive stuff, although the 40 million figure must be a bit high. I’m betting that most of those attempted to use more than one key, after being unsuccessful. I wonder how much Crysis and UT3 would sell if Piracy wasn’t an issue?

GTA4 Is A What Game?

Sometimes the news media does funny stuff. Most of the time, it’s Fox News.

Next they’ll say Final Fantasy is a sports title

How Desperate Are You To Play GTA4?

Probably not nearly as bad as this guy. After losing all electricity for his apartment (for not paying the bills) he headed over to his friend’s house and took root in the only room available, the bathroom.

Never mind, I don’t need to go anymore

We forgot to pay the power bill…[jordanmessina.com]

Nintendo Power Virtual Console Poll

Nintendo Power asked you what you wanted to see on the Virtual Console and you answered. Here’s your (not my) top 5 most wanted games on Virtual Console.

1. Earthbound
2. Super Mario RPG
3. Chrono Trigger
4. Mother
5. Majoras Mask

Notice how both Mother and Mother 2 (Earthbound here in Non-Japan land) made the list. I must say, I almost completely agree with the list. I was a big fan of Earthbound back in the days. The game was awesome and you really got your money’s worth, thanks to the fact that it came packaged with the uber-awesome strategy guide. Unfortunately, that game was stolen from me by someone. Same goes for my two (2) copies of Mario RPG. That’s right, I bought that game twice and it was stolen both times. I still have Chrono Trigger. A shame that wasn’t released in Europe cause it’s one of the best SNES games ever. (though it was available on the PS1.) I’d probably get rid of Majora’s Mask and substitute Secret of Mana (awesome game) or Ogre Battle (one of the best Strategy games on consoles). But, all in all, it’s great and I hope Nintendo comes through and puts these games on the VC cause I’m dying to by these games again without having to take out a loan.

Think the list is imperfect? Write down your top 5 (or 10) in the comments section. Who knows, Nintendo might be watching.

Mario Medieval Style

There are some things that naturally go good together. Peanut Butter and Jelly, Chocolate and peanut butter, Cake and Frosting but Mario and Medieval style? Perhaps its best let the art experts judge.

Were there even plumbers back then?

GTA IV: A Whole New World

Grand Theft Auto IV. Oh how long we’ve waited for this day. Ever since the game was delayed (not surprisingly) from last year to April 29th 2008, we’ve been on the edge of our seats staring at fake boxarts, scant pictures, and no gameplay reveal whatsoever on GTA IV from Rockstar. The time is now, and it’s finally here. Let’s finally head into Liberty City for the first time, the fictional counterpart To NYC, and indulge ourselves in a splendor of an atmosphere that would make us want to yell at the top of our lungs.

UPS Be Stealin GTA4 Copies DAWG!

If you ordered your copy of GTA4 through the mail, you might not be getting it. Some UPS people have been stealing copies of GTA4, which would certainly explain why my copy hasn’t arrived yet. I don’t know about you guys, but I’m suing them! Who would’ve ever thought that the men in brown would steal from people? (I’m referring to the UPS dudes here, not other brown men who contribute as much to society as all the other people on the color spectrum)

Damn you UPS!!
