Test System

  • Motherboard: Abit IP35-Pro
  • Processor: Intel C2E QX9770
  • Processor Cooling: Thermalright Ultra 120 w/80.5CFM
  • Power Supply: Corsair HX1000W
  • Video Card: HD 4870 x 2, HD 4870 single
  • Additional Fans: None
  • Hard Drive: 1 x Seagate 7200.9 80GB SATAII 8MB cache
  • OS: Windows Vista x64 (Fully Updated)

The above is the test system we will use. In the benchmarks for memory, default timings and specs will be indicated in blue. For these blue results, all the memory timings are left on AUTO in the BIOS, which sets up this specific clock journey across the memory to the FSB to the CPU and back. This will best simulate the likely settings that an average user will get with this memory. For those that like to tweak their RAM, you will most likely tweak it anyways. The overclocks will respectively follow in shades of red. Get it? Red…overclocking…yeah alright. We know you’re all intelligent out there. For memory benchmarks, we run the modules with the highest frequency on the board thereby letting us evaluate for overall occurrence.
