German officials are pissed with kids and are starting to ask retailers to switch off game console displays during school hours. Officials are concerned that the game demos are attracting truant students:
Truancy can be the beginning of a criminal career and that’s why we have to intervene. Not every truant becomes criminal, but criminals skipped school at one time or another.
The newspaper Welt am Sonntag quoted Udo Nagel, state interior minister of Hamburg, as saying the idea was among 22 recommendations on fighting juvenile delinquency.
German interior ministers will speak all about the anger later in a meeting in Brandenburg.
