GTA IV: A Whole New World

A Whole New Place

Quite possibly one of the most interesting things in this game is how it sets apart from others, and Rockstar no doubt not only pulled it off, but exceeded expectations. Especially their own. They downsized the map, and turned the detail scale to “Fucking Epic” and let it rip. Sure the graphics aren’t CG, but they’re pretty damn good with the exception of some lower res bump mapping in unnoticeable places such as the inside of a car’s door. This time around, there is absolutely no, barely if any, graphical fade-in’s that make the previous games extremely mediocre in comparison. Anytime you would drive, you could see pedestrians fading in and what not. This does not happen in the retail, but did happen during preview codes and very rarely and was really minute. The entire world is rendered fully with texture streaming, so don’t forget that.
