GTA IV: A Whole New World

About Time Bivneetca Manda

It Finally Means Something

Getting a mission is simple. And this time, finally, it’s not so ridiculously stupid on why it’s given in the first place. The game missions actually give you a true reason to do something other than for “your homies” or because it’s a different colored gang. No, it’s real this time and moreover it’s personal. The cell phone vibrates your hand, considering you have DualShock 3 (who doesn’t), and sets you up to go. So, you head on over to any transportation method. We head over to a car and go about our way.

Left = Right, Right = Left. Backing Up Isn’t Easy.

Interestingly enough, the car is different. Very different to control, and equivalent to controlling a car in real life. Nothing is bullshit here, and it’s most definitely not a game. It’s a real car, with real wheels. Or maybe it’s us just going insane from how good it feels. Either way, it’s different and incomparable. Smash a window and aim shoot or use the new blind fire feature out of a car. If you get tired, you can slightly open your door and time your burst out of the car to ditch the ride. Just be sure not to injure yourself. If you fall, it’s real and it hurts. It can even be most fatal. That’s the beauty of driving in GTA IV. It’s fun and fascinating.

Rockstar’s RAGE engine with NaturalMotion’s Euphoria engine creates an unbelievable world. A world like this one. The physics work with characters from cars, to the real life world and really make an impact. In a car, Niko’s weight shifts to one side if he makes a harsh turn and everyone knows how to react with everyone.

As we get out of our car, we see a couple of baddies and they’re not pleased we’re there. At this point, it would be wise to haul your ass as fast as you possibly can behind a car for cover. This isn’t the same city where the laws of mental health break down and you can get shot with an Uzi 15 times before you die. Get shot: you’re weaker and your aiming skills are flimsy. Get shot a 3rd time, and you’re gone. Get shot in the right area, and it’s immediate. Taking cover is as easy as hitting the trigger controls, and locking onto an enemy is simple with switching between them and the right stick reticule. Best part? You can blind fire without always having to be in front of whomever you’re shooting, quite possibly the most torrential flaws of the previous GTA series aside from the bonked control scheme, which finally has achieved redemption. If you die, then you simply pop out your cell and begin the mission again. It’s just that simple and less frustrating.
