Haze Review: A Spectacle For Some The Masses

Fall Of The Pioneers

Haze puts players at ease in the environment through the solid interface scheme. The analogue sticks are obviously to move, shoot is pretty much mapped to the trigger controls, everything is fluid and really manages to get you in the feel of a powered up psycho soldier through the wilderness. Haze delivers an experience of actually being in an environment and dealing with it, but there’s a huge flaw to it. The entire camaraderie and emotional investment in the environment and everybody in it is virtually missing. It’s just not there. As Shane, easily manipulated to different sides and there’s no internal struggle or anything there. It’s like someone walks up and says: “Join the Promised Hand” to which he would say, “Sure, why not!” A dimwitted sergeant, and who is dissuading in his morality. There’s no personality there, and this is quite frankly a disappointment. Moreover, the camaraderie is so undeniably cheesy. It’s almost of a false macchiato and the machismo is utterly discrepant with stupid “manly” phrases. It can’t be put any simpler than that.
