Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty Review

Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty Review

Metal Gear Solid 2 is simply amazing. Metal Gear Solid took the Metal Gear stealth action series from its Metal Gear MSX origins to a completely remarkable experience with stunning 3D graphics, whimsical and memorable characters, diverse and thought-provoking gameplay elements, unbelievable production values, espionage action, remarkably enticing forethought, and more. Metal Gear is simply remarkable quality, and deserves no better than a Solid sequel of our hero Solid Snake.

Metal Gear Solid 2 lives up to developer promises. It is an undeniably impressive game that’s just as unforgettable as the original, and it is longer too. Metal Gear Solid 2 remains true to convention. Even though you will be too busy with game plot and more, it is the incredible story and the tight, compact action at the spirit of Metal Gear Solid 2 that makes it the best game we have played for the PlayStation 2. You’ll start out with a  single-shot M9 pistol with tranquilizing rounds  that can knock your foes unconscious. The drugs will not work instantly unless you aim for the head area. For this, you can use the game’s incredible camera system using the R1 button. Here, you can take precise aim using any of your weapons, and this is probably the biggest gameplay difference between Metal Gear Solid 2 and the original, where you could look around from a first-person view, but couldn’t fire, except with certain weapons. In the sequel, first-person view shooting is constant, since it is tactically advantageous to do so. The switches from the third-person view to the first-person view takes a while to get acquainted with, but the game integrates some tutorials to get you ready for the field.

Metal Gear Solid 2 is a must-buy. It will be remembered not just as a great sequel, but as a defining accomplishment in the history of gaming. You do not need to play Metal Gear Solid 2 just because everyone else will. You need to play it because it might be your favorite game of all time. Unless Metal Gear Solid 3 comes out anytime soon.
