Metal Gear Solid 4 Review: The Legacy
Catch Them By Surprise
Stealth has been redefined with the Octocamo system that gives players a new way to distinct enemies because of the usefulness with which Snake can blend onto any environment surface. As a more enhanced, way enhance version of MGS3 camouflage, Snake’s body suit instantly takes on the appearance of whatever surface he’s faced towards, and making sure an unsuspecting enemy is trampled from a surprise attack. To mention, there is a threat ring. That’s the little “!” that shows up above an enemies head and shows where opponents are in the vicinity. The brighter and redder it is, the worse the situation becomes. Either way, with the new Octocamo system this shouldn’t be a problem.
Even though it’s a stealth adventure, many can enter a battle in a high and use fixed guns to ravage enemies. Luckily, there is always balance in this game. Rampant gunning or psycho FPS-ing is limited by the Psyche and Stress meters influence Snake’s mental state during. The Psyche meter is below Snake’s health gauge makes changes his physical abilities and accuracy with weapons. The lower the Psyche meter, the more difficult it becomes for Snake to remain effective in combat. The Stress meter gauges the tension that Snake comes across at any time. Snake doesn’t like certain conditions because they don’t exactly help him, such as being out in the open, or being in areas of weather extremes. As Stress is higher, the decline in Snake’s Psyche will be much faster. When on the battlefield, take care of yourself. It’s a new world and a new age.
Mark II is a small robot Otacon gifts to Snake. The Mark II is primarily an advance scout for Snake. Because it’s small and can turn invisible, players can use the Mark II to sense where enemies and other hazards are, which gives them an advantage in battle. Not only that, but it can also collect weapons for Drebil and communicate with Drebin at any time. This is a safe way to pick up guns in a firefight without exposing Snake to any confrontations.
