Let It Be Known: Police Officers Don’t Hate GTA IV
Do you all believe, as police officers, that GTA IV will inherently be something to put the blame on?
[Hesitant looks fill the room.]
[10 seconds go by] Hald: Yeah.
Meadleton: Definitely.
Whitwier: Mm hm.
[Cue not surprised face] Oh…wow. That’s..pretty unanimous. Without a doubt, even. All…constitutional and articles of confederation-ish. Let’s name some of the things that could lead you all to think that: Drunk driving, Running Over People, Public Beating, Slander, Assault, Robbery, Sexual Innuendo, and that’s just some of the things.
Hald: Yeah, that’s definitely a long list. I didn’t even know drunk driving was in that game. That’s a serious problem. And I do not even understand why that was needed, but I suppose these people just do anything to achieve realism. What next? Porn?
Hopefully. But no, the ESRB controls all that. Games can’t afford an AO+ rating. It is death to the sales charts.
Meadleton: So yeah, there is definitely going to be blame on this game. I actually played San Andreas when it came out at a friend’s house, and yeah there are many things in the GTA series in general that just outright suck or are offensive.
Mm hrm..
Whitwier: But the thing is, as much as we want to blame them and will blame them, we can’t solely blame them. Once again. It is just a factor into the bigger picture of things. Parents need to tell their children to put down the controller so that progress can be made. They need to sit their kids down if they decide to let them buy a specifically M-rated game, and explain to them what they’re getting into and realize the consequences of ever trying to even mimick the smallest things in them.
Hald: In the end, it is solely the parent’s responsibility to make sure his/her child grows up with some fucking brains and uses it effectively.
Thank you guys for doing this interview. It was fun, and we are sure the people at my site will learn a lot from this. Now I need to go find me a ho.
[Everyone is confused]
I’d like to personally thank Dan W., Tony H., and Scott M. for letting us interview them on this.

Awesome interview. After interviewing R*, who better to than LAPD themselves.
Brilliant!
Kudos
