Late Night With WhatIfGaming: EP01 - Ugleh!

The “Late Night With WhatIfGaming” is a new series feature of ours. No, it won’t have the little blue icon but it’s going to be just as significant. Every week we’re going to be doing either a video or post about anything we want to show or discuss on (you guessed it) very dark and late nights.

We’re currently having fun with a very special game (and one we rate very highly): BioShock, already released on the 360, and PC. And from our very favorite scene (not a spoiler of sorts) from the game, we have posted a nice video above.

For those of you wondering: yes, it is running at greater than 140 frames per second on PC at 2560×1600, DX 10, everything turned on. The GPUs are SLI GTX 280’s and the machine has a ton of RAM for the meal.

BioShock PS3 confirmed; Not A Port

I told you all numerous times it would happen, and I care to gloat on it since I said it ever since last year at another publication. BioShock is officially bound for the PlayStation 3.

“We can confirm that BioShock will be headed to the PlayStation 3 as not a port” a representative for 2K Games told us directly. Apparently, the game will have major graphical overhauls, and EXTRA content to prepare PS3 owners for BioShock 2 on the PS3.

Embrace!

Rumour-Mongering

Bio Shock

Sony’s PS3 wasn’t really shifting in numbers when uber-dank blaster Bioshock first aired on 360 and PC. However things are different now; the PS3 is increasingly looking like a contender and the old rumour is back again.

The rumour being that a PS3 version of this brilliant game is firmly back on the agenda at 2K Games. At least that’s the story according to US games mag EGM. They’re also talking up graphical improvements and extra content to make up for the tardy release.

So is this just hopeful rumour-mongering or does EGM know more than 2K is willing to confirm? Very likely, and a mag as old and prestigious as EGM has probably built up a sizeable network of trusted insiders over the years to source its stories.

Then again this is another one of those obvious predictions to make, isn’t it? Is 2K really going to want to sit on the Bioshock code forever more, or is it going to want to make sheds more cash for flogging what is now relatively old clobber?

BioShock Big Daddy…The Real One

2K shipped the collector’s edition with a Big Daddy figurine, but frankly the paintjob sucked. David Blades, a guy over at schewerpunkt studios took the standard figure, re-posed and re-painted the whole thing so it’s much better.

BioShock 2 Devs Needed

2K Marin is looking for some Bioshock 2 developers. Think you’ve got what it takes to be part of the 2K group? Check out the pre-reqs

Education and Experience:
Previous experience with a gameplay scripting language or high level programming language.

Experience working with recent generation game consoles and technology. (Xbox, xbox 360, PS2 or PS3) and Playstation 3 experience is required.

Unreal Engine 3 experience preferred

Previous basic 3DSMax and Photoshop experience is desired.

What I found interested is that PS3 experience is required. (A hint maybe?)

BioShock + Anime

Only the Japanese are crazy enough to make a game as demented like BioShock seem like a lovable Saturday morning cartoon show for children (And weird college kids who love anime).

For those of you who want to visit the site, I don’t know if it’s SFW or not. Considering the nature of this pic, there could be some really funky $#@! there. (It is Japanese, after all.)
