WhatIfGaming’s Best of E3 2011 Awards

Best RPG:
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Developer: Bethesda Game Studios
Publisher: Bethesda Softworks

The king of Skyrim has been assassinated, and there is now a war between the Nord races that support the empire and those that wish to secede from it. The Elder Scrolls foretell the tale where the Nordic god of destruction, Alduin, will return after the civil war, the last event of its kind before the god rises from his slumber. This enormous dragon will consume everything in the world, so that it may end and start anew. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has hand-crafted various maps, amazing draw distances, and a world finally with differing people when compared to similar titles such as Fallout, all in due thanks to the internal Bethesda proprietary Creation Engine. The behind-closed-doors exclusive demo we have seen has left us undeniably wanting more than we can possibly handle until its release on 11.11.11.

Best Graphics Technology:
Battlefield 3

Developer: EA Digital Illusions CE
Publisher: Electronic Arts

Battlefield 3 developers showed us 1 still image from the game on their live demo units which left us speechless when they claimed it was “in-game.” The level of incredible action, the scalability to 1920×1080 on a confirmed non-SLI/Crossfire X rig at a constant 60 frames-per-second with a Core 2 Duo is something which is monumental not only in terms of delivery the FrostBite 2.0 graphics, but truly revealing that powerhouses can come in a package which does not have to suffer in the hands of egregious costs.

Most Gracious Technological Excellence:
Battlefield 3

Developer: EA Digital Illusions CE
Publisher: Electronic Arts

The slight details of nuances within the FrostBite 2.0 Engine, while either running or simply moving becomes apparent within Battlefield 3 as one of the most technologically excellent titles we have seen to date when compared to Battlefield 2 let alone other titles in the same genre in this day and age. Battlefield 3 manages to macadamize a strong stance into the next generation consoles, and is truly shaping up to be the next great game which will be as memorable as Battlefield 2 but better.

Revolutionary Design:
Battlefield 3

Developer: EA Digital Illusions CE
Publisher: Electronic Arts

EA Digital Illusions CE is bringing illustriously defining gameplay with Battlefield 3 and it is truly a title which has caught our attention and has managed to keep it there until its release date. The design concept hopes to remain true to the classical concept within Battlefield 2, and creates a more close quarters combat feeling that which seems to be truly worthy of the WhatIfGaming Revolutionary Design E3 2011 Award.
