WhatIfGaming’s Overall Best Of E3 Awards 2008

WhatIfGaming Best Of E3 2008 Awards: Best Console Game

Best Console Game:
LittleBigPlanet

Developer: Media Molecule
Publisher: Sony Computer Entertainment
Release Date: October 2008

We really can’t stop talking about this game enough. The worlds, the editors, and the communication isn’t only what makes it the best of its kind but also one of the best community games to ever be made so far. Hopefully Media Molecule can get some of the small bugs we saw fixed and full integration for custom stickers, object utilities, and what not Day 1 of launch. When they do, we will have a truly revolutionary game on our hands.

WhatIfGaming Best Of E3 2008 Awards: Best PC Game Runner-Up

Best PC Game:
Left 4 Dead

Developer: Valve Software
Publisher: Valve Software
Release Date: Winter 2008

Valve’s Left 4 Dead has left us scared to step into dark alleyways even when a virus hasn’t broken out that has taken over all of man kind and made them lurid and menacingly obstreperous creatures of the dead night. Whether you have a PC or a Xbox 360, buying Left 4 Dead is an absolute no-brainer. The game is stunningly capturing with the environment’s essence and deserves a noteworthy applause for unmatched community support through future mod and SDK potential for a horror genre. There’s absolutely no game anyone has ever played that’s anything like Left 4 Dead, a creative and evolutionary horror survival journey all packed into a beautiful game casing showing a rotting hand emerging violently from the depths of the ground.

Woah maquerel. These are amazing. Since i visited the site in only about 2006ish, I didn’t get to see too many awards

  2. adurioubmidam July 21st, 2008 3:25 PM

Wow awesome awards. Never knew they were so rigorous

  3. adurioubmidam July 21st, 2008 3:26 PM

  7. wiseguy272 July 21st, 2008 3:29 PM

Loved all of these. Still reading, it’s amazing. 1,000 Nominees. I definitely know that not all of them can be from E3, but most of the analysts are thats for sure

  8. wiseguy272 July 21st, 2008 3:29 PM

Rigorous is the right word. Crazily rigorous

  9. wiseguy272 July 21st, 2008 3:30 PM

  12. antaraa July 21st, 2008 3:32 PM

Without a doubt, huge news that these are up now

  14. antaraa July 21st, 2008 3:33 PM

Love to see console best, but I’m damn sure that won’t be easy. These are quite possibly one of the BIGGEST and largest awards ever conducted through years. I remember it started with about 100 back in 2003ish before the new site structure.

  15. antaraa July 21st, 2008 3:33 PM

Sucks the database for those were wiped, but ever since 2006 and on, these are the sole awards anyone should be looking at for sure

  16. antaraa July 21st, 2008 3:33 PM

    So impressive

  17. antaraa July 21st, 2008 3:33 PM

Kudos and extreme Bravo’s to the winners and select nominees.

Killzone 2 is a given. I played it at Sony public day event. It was spectacular.

  20. JoshDargie July 21st, 2008 3:35 PM

Overall most of these had to have been difficult to choose from. Some don’t even have runner-up’s.

  21. JoshDargie July 21st, 2008 3:35 PM

LittleBigPlanet, so want to play that video game argh!

  22. JoshDargie July 21st, 2008 3:36 PM

  42. FreedomPhantom July 21st, 2008 3:56 PM

Well dude, even though 1,000 chose these games, they aren’t all from E3 unnecessarily. Some were played MONTHS in advance. Keep that in mind!

  43. FreedomPhantom July 21st, 2008 3:56 PM

1,000 is great for months in advance. But in 3 days? Dobutful. Read it. they wrote its been in advance. So : )

  44. FreedomPhantom July 21st, 2008 3:57 PM

Totally agree to all of them

  59. venkatezh July 21st, 2008 4:12 PM

Best awards ever. No doubt. So it’s not just 4 or 5 dudes in a small office picking all of them? It’s 1 THOUSAND before E3 AND finally at E3…NICEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!

  60. venkatezh July 21st, 2008 4:13 PM

This was just so magnificent and munificent.

  61. Pancakes July 21st, 2008 5:04 PM

Fallout 3 Action rocks. I love it when you go into the school, and you have to run with a timer.

  62. Pancakes July 21st, 2008 5:04 PM

All the selections make sense. Not too sure about The Conduit (Wii) as runner-up!

  63. Pancakes July 21st, 2008 5:05 PM

Amazing once again. This really deserves accolades

  64. Pancakes July 21st, 2008 5:05 PM

Well more so than they already have I mean

  65. Pancakes July 21st, 2008 5:06 PM

Agreed: Won’t spoil it here…but GAME OF SHOW = ABSOLUTELY true. Was Gears 2 playable ?

  66. Pancakes July 21st, 2008 5:06 PM

Gears 2 would have won best 3rd person shooter no doubt had it been playable

  67. Pancakes July 21st, 2008 5:07 PM

    Can’t wait for GOTY Awards!!!

  68. Pancakes July 21st, 2008 5:07 PM

    This was just super cool

RadianceGraphics replied on July 21, 2008 5:11 PM:

Without any doubt in my mind. These are always the best awards I see every year

  69. RadianceGraphics July 21st, 2008 5:10 PM

I agree with MOST of these. Some I want to disagree with. Like LEFT 4 dead over fallout 3, but seeing both…it’s definitely hard. And I can see why 1,000 people partake in these WhatIfGaming Prizes every year

  70. RadianceGraphics July 21st, 2008 5:11 PM

Killzone 2 by far has the right tech. No doubt.

  71. treereet July 21st, 2008 6:30 PM

Pretty good choices I think. Lots of great games coming out in the next year.

  72. VenomXv July 21st, 2008 8:58 PM

1,000 for preliminaries. No doubt a great choice.

  73. VenomXv July 21st, 2008 8:58 PM
