WhatIfGaming’s Overall Best Of E3 Awards 2008
Best Non-Playable Presentation:
Heavy Rain
Developer: Quantic Dream
Publisher: Sony Computer Entertainment
Release Date: TBA 2009
Show at E3 on: PS3
As we have already broken the news here, Heavy Rain was shown in real time at E3 2008. All we can say about this title is, it’s unbelievably impressive and unlike anything you’ve seen before. It was a different scenery than the one in the kitchen, and it had hearts pumping with the bitter struggle that took place.
Runner(s)-Up: God of War III (SCE)
Other Nominees: None
Biggest Surprise:
Heavy Rain Gameplay
Developer: N/A
Publisher: N/A
Release Date: N/A
We weren’t expecting this at all. Once again, we know that it’s a struggle scene in a garage, and it’s undeniably suspenseful and thrilling. We’d love to show you all the video snippet we have, but we can’t! We can say one thing though, focus on the Tokyo Game Show and more importantly Liepzig.
Runner(s)-Up: God of War III (SCE), FFXIII to Xbox 360.
In all honesty, this was huge news but wasn’t a surprise to WhatIfGaming (FF XIII to Xbox 360). It was obvious that Square-Enix couldn’t ignore 19 million sold consoles, and at the same time they can’t help but making profit from the PS3’s fairly large base itself. With projects such as Infinite Undiscovery, and Star Ocean IV as a 360 exclusive, a Xbox 360 version of FFXIII wasn’t a huge shocker. Since most people did find it big news though, it’s also the biggest surprise so far to come from E3.
Other Nominees: None

Woah maquerel. These are amazing. Since i visited the site in only about 2006ish, I didn’t get to see too many awards
Wow awesome awards. Never knew they were so rigorous
Loved them. Amazing new logo. I remember the square ones from 2004. Those were the days!
A lot of amazing categories. Heavy rain was playable? wtf awesome
Definitely awesome awards. I always put full faith in these, but definitelyd ecide on my own
I agree with most as well
Loved all of these. Still reading, it’s amazing. 1,000 Nominees. I definitely know that not all of them can be from E3, but most of the analysts are thats for sure
Rigorous is the right word. Crazily rigorous
I doubt the names will be revealed for the committee. Lol BRIBERY!
God thats awesome
I agree with all of them as well. Would have liked more PC runner ups though.
Without a doubt, huge news that these are up now
L4D got a lot of wins, definite buy here now
Love to see console best, but I’m damn sure that won’t be easy. These are quite possibly one of the BIGGEST and largest awards ever conducted through years. I remember it started with about 100 back in 2003ish before the new site structure.
Sucks the database for those were wiped, but ever since 2006 and on, these are the sole awards anyone should be looking at for sure
So impressive
Kudos and extreme Bravo’s to the winners and select nominees.
Definitely important news here. Going to start reading now
Killzone 2 is a given. I played it at Sony public day event. It was spectacular.
Overall most of these had to have been difficult to choose from. Some don’t even have runner-up’s.
LittleBigPlanet, so want to play that video game argh!
Congrats to runners-up. Not easy
Def hard to get
L4Dead of course
I want to see the entire list for nominees. I wonder which ones didn’t make it
Some probably came pretty close.
Oh wow. Didn’t know C&C 3 RA was going to be that good. Awesome
A lot of this would make Media Molecule happy hahah
But they definitely deserve it that’s for sure
Love WhatIfGaming, and love the nomination proccess.
Thanks guys
Amazing reviews/previews/and awards
Wonderful selections. 1,000 invitational forms isn’t too difficult considering traffic these guys get
Just totally amazing
Revolutionary in fact
Love the process. It’s basically the same it was about 2 years ago
but the designs are different and I’m loving it
Best awards ever in HISTORY. Thanks
They’ve only been around 5-6 years. Saying history is a long stretch !
Definitely agree to all the runner-ups and winners. No doubt here
then again 1,000 people overall chose these. I can’t really say shit lol!
Love these awards for life. Have loved them, will love them. Thanks again WhatIfGaming.
You guys aren’t messing around
Well dude, even though 1,000 chose these games, they aren’t all from E3 unnecessarily. Some were played MONTHS in advance. Keep that in mind!
1,000 is great for months in advance. But in 3 days? Dobutful. Read it. they wrote its been in advance. So : )
Looks amazing for sure. true say
No doubt about these
Unbelievable
WOAH! DIDN’T Even seee that category winner coming. NICE
Definitely impressive once again. Didn’t know this was going on for months in advance
This pretty much confirms awesomeness
Amazing selections
2010 for full list people!
I’ll be there
1,000 People Initial, then a committee
That was insane! loved it
Amazing stuff
I was WOW-ed
Speechless actually. Wasn’t here until a couple of good months ago. Thanks
Totally agree to all of them
Best awards ever. No doubt. So it’s not just 4 or 5 dudes in a small office picking all of them? It’s 1 THOUSAND before E3 AND finally at E3…NICEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!
This was just so magnificent and munificent.
Fallout 3 Action rocks. I love it when you go into the school, and you have to run with a timer.
All the selections make sense. Not too sure about The Conduit (Wii) as runner-up!
Amazing once again. This really deserves accolades
Well more so than they already have I mean
Agreed: Won’t spoil it here…but GAME OF SHOW = ABSOLUTELY true. Was Gears 2 playable ?
Gears 2 would have won best 3rd person shooter no doubt had it been playable
Can’t wait for GOTY Awards!!!
This was just super cool

Without any doubt in my mind. These are always the best awards I see every year
I agree with MOST of these. Some I want to disagree with. Like LEFT 4 dead over fallout 3, but seeing both…it’s definitely hard. And I can see why 1,000 people partake in these WhatIfGaming Prizes every year
Killzone 2 by far has the right tech. No doubt.
Pretty good choices I think. Lots of great games coming out in the next year.
1,000 for preliminaries. No doubt a great choice.
Really loved these awards. Awesome stuff guys
