New Mafia Project in Development

After a fairly long gap between the last numbered entry, fans have longed for a fresh Mafia story. Finally, the day has arrived when we can confirm that, indeed, a new Mafia game is in the works. Hanger 13 just dropped an interview with their long-serving developers and general manager Roman Hladík in which he has confirmed that a Mafia project is under development.

He stated:

I'm happy to confirm we've started work on an all-new Mafia project! While it's a few years away and we can't share anything more right now, we're really excited to keep working on this beloved franchise and to entertain our players with new stories.

We already knew that a Mafia 4 is in the works, thanks to certain leaks. And based on the interview, it is safe to assume that Hanger 13 is indeed developing Mafia 4.

Details About the New Project

A couple of months ago, a famous leaker Shpeshal Nick, while talking on the XboxEra podcast, revealed some information about the new Mafia game. His sources revealed that the next Mafia game will be a prequel to the last games. Moreover, the game will take place in the 19th century and span the 20th century throughout the story.

Nick has also stated Don Salieri, an older character from the Mafia games, is involved. Tommy, the main character in Mafia 1, has Don Salieri as his boss. Only Don Salieri’s involvement has been established; the nature of his role in the game has not yet been determined. Additionally, compared to earlier games, the new one will have a more linear approach.

When Will The Game Be Out?

Based on the limited information we have, it is almost impossible to guess the release frame of the game. Hangar 13’s General Manager has already confirmed that the game is at least a few years away at this stage. So, we can assume that the game won’t drop in at least in 2022 or 2023.

Despite the game being far away, we hope we get our first look at the game soon. Are you guys fans of the Mafia franchise? Are you looking forward to the latest entry? Let us know in the comments down below.
