Sony Interactive Entertainment is not really a stranger when it comes to remasters and remakes. They are well known for overhauling games to match the current hardware. Uncharted series, Spiderman, Ghost of Tsushima, and The Last of Us Part are the most prominent examples. And now it seems another PlayStation exclusive (formerly, now available on PC) Horizon Zero Dawn Remaster is coming our way for the PS5. Along with that MP1ST has also reported that a Horizon multiplayer game is in the works too.

Horizon Zero Dawn Remaster for PlayStation 5

According to an MP1ST report, which has been corroborated by VGC too, Horizon Remaster for PS5 is in the works. The latter wrote that an undisclosed source close to the project has broken the news.

Earlier, SIE made a remake for the Last of Us 1, which was built completely from the ground up. It’s unclear whether the Horizon Zero Dawn version would be a remaster or a complete remake of the original. But the source has claimed that the game will add features to match the PS5. According to reports, the updated edition of Zero Dawn will also include changes to the gameplay’s quality of life, accessibility features, and graphical settings.

All these things hint at SIE trying to make the game look more like the entry that launched earlier this year, Horizon Forbidden West. The accessibility features and quality of life improvement were all introduced in the sequel. Here is a graphical comparison between Horizon Zero Dawn and Forbidden:

Horizon Zero Dawn can be played on the PS5 currently, but it doesn’t natively take advantage of the hardware. Zero Dawn was also ported to PC some time ago. Though there were some changes, there wasn’t a major overhaul.

The claim has been further corroborated by Lance McDonald:

The news is currently quite unclear as there has been no official confirmation. VGC state it has contacted SIE for comment. But seeing, TLOU Remake got SIE a lot of criticism, especially for its price, remastering a game that looks visually stunning to date could b a questionable decision. With that said we know what next-gen hardware is capable of and coupling with Dual Sense features could enhance the Horizon Zero Dawn experience.

Horizon Multiplayer Project

Rumors of Guerilla Studios being interested in a Horizon multiplayer project have been going on for quite some time now. It has also been reported that the same source combined with another one has claimed that Guerilla is currently working on the multiplayer project. The Horizon multiplayer will be for both PC and PlayStation. According to MP1ST:

Two sources have verified that the project is in indeed real, with a third giving some brief details that it may feature a form of co-op. Customization is said to around the different tribes established in the Horizon franchise, however, we have not been able to verify either that, nor the details on whether or not the online would feature any sort of co-op, or PvP.'

According to all the reports, it seems Sony has quite some plans for the series going forward. However, take all of this with a pinch of salt as there has been no confirmation by SIE or Guerilla. We will be sure to keep you updated in case of any new development so stay tuned.
