Activision has cleared the air by responding to the rumors and confirming Modern Warfare 3 is a full premium release. Rumors were flying that MW3 is going to be like a DLC or an expansion for Modern Warfare 2, but that apparently isn’t the case.

Modern Warfare 3 is Not an Add-On for Modern Warfare 2

A couple of days ago an Australian Store Listing emerged that listed the game for 54.95 AUD. This roughly converts you to 36 USD sparking rumors that it could just be an add-on for MW2. However, Activision has confirmed CharlieIntel that Modern Warfare 3 is indeed a premium release costing $70.

Furthermore, Modern Warfare 3 has been listed as an add-on on Steam because all CoD games will be an add-on for the Call of Duty HQ app going forward, to simplify CoD into one launcher. Considering it’s a premium release, it will likely come with its very own gameplay aspects as well. This could also be Activision’s response to people who were saying that MW3 feels more like a DLC.

Additionally, people with older-gen consoles will also be thrilled to know that MW3 is still cross-gen. The grand reveal for the title is on August 17, and the release date is set for November 10th on PS4|5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
