Ever gotten tired of toxic players coming into your chat and ruining your game? Activision has found a fix for that. Call of Duty is getting in-game real-time voice chat monitoring. The tech uses AI to listen to voice chat and ban players if they break the rules.
Activision Using AI to Monitor Voice Chats in Call of Duty
The issue of players disrupting the game or going against the code of conduct is quite common in multiplayer titles. While you can report them afterward, that doesn’t necessarily guarantee a ban. However, this new technology does that in real time.
If someone is going against the code of conduct in voice chat they will be banned in real-time. Yes, that does raise an issue of what’s right and wrong according to the AI, but Activision has a solution for that as well. All the chats will be monitored directly by them before deciding to ban the user.
Here are the things that won’t be tolerated in-game according to the CoD FAQ section:
Hate speech, discrimination, sexism, and other types of harmful language, as outlined in the Code of Conduct.
This a much appreciable step to stop abuse and unnecessary hate in voice chats. The technology will debut with the season 5 reloaded update. It will be present in its beta state in both Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone. It will also be added to Modern Warfare 3 when it launches.
