It seems that Bayonetta 3 has recently appeared on the front page of the Nintendo store. This might mean that we will probably get news of it very soon mainly at the upcoming Nintendo Direct. The game also shows a release date set for 2022 according to the product page as well. Bayonetta 3 along with Xenoblade Chronicles 3, Splatoon 3, and Pokemon Scarlett and Violet all are releasing this year. The release of these first-party games would mark an important year for Nintendo overall.
Bayonetta 3: What We Know So Far
The development of Bayonetta 3 was originally announced during The Game Awards in 2017 with the showing of a teaser trailer. PlatinumGames is developing the game. In addition to Bayonetta 3, PlatinumGames is working on a number of titles this year including the recently released Babylon’s Fall and a mysterious new title called Project G.G.
The teaser showed Bayonetta in a fight with an unknown villain. Later, in the February 2019 Nintendo Direct, it confirmed that the production of the game was going as smoothly as possible. But, other than that no footage of the game was shown. As there was no proper update about the game PlatinumGames’ studio head Atsushi Inaba reassured fans that ”There’s no need to worry. Don’t worry about it at this time. Everything’s OK.”
At long last, we were able to take a glimpse at some actual gameplay video of Bayonetta 3 during the September 2021 Direct. The footage displayed some visually appealing animations as well as Bayonetta carrying out some challenging moves. It also shows Bayonetta summoning forth and wielding control over a gigantic creature.
The Nintendo earnings report also confirms that Bayonetta 3 was still scheduled for a 2022 release. We can surely expect the game to appear at the upcoming Nintendo Direct along with more details about it. The release of the game will surely give fans a moment to rejoice as they have been waiting for it for a long time.
