Ever wondered what an armed-to-the-teeth astronaut would be called? Well, it is going to be Astroperator. Never heard this term before, right? After the popularity of Shattered Horizon, we didn’t get to see many space first-person shooters. However, good news awaits the fans as Studio Surgical Scalpels in collaboration with Huya Games and Skystones Games Inc is working on a game that has got the fans waiting for over two years. Yeah, you guessed it right, we are talking about Boundary. The Boundary release date was firstly announced in 2020 but unfortunately, due to the covid pandemic, it had to be postponed.
After having a couple of potential releases delayed, the game has a big chance of releasing this year. 2022 is going to be a very kind year for gamers as a lot of eagerly awaited games that couldn’t make it to the consoles last year and the year before that, are going to be released. Make sure to check out our continuously updated news archive, if you don’t want to miss out on any potential release.
As soon as the next generation space FPS, Boundary, hits PC and consoles, space combat will be taken to new heights. For a variety of reasons, it will be unlike any other first-person shooter you’ve ever played.
Anyways, today, the game under consideration is Boundary, and we will be taking a look at everything it has to offer.
Boundary Release Date
As told above, the game has kept the fans waiting for quite some time. The primary development of the game has been completed and It was supposed to release in 2021. But sadly, the Boundary release date was postponed to 2022. However, there is still not an official word on when exactly the game is going to come out for PC and consoles.
Having said that, there is some “good news” coming soon for everyone, as tweeted by the Boundary Twitter handle on 5th January.
Well, it is what it is. A bit more of a tease by the devs to keep the fans talking about the game.
Until then, you can register for the Beta from the following link.
Boundary Gameplay
If you have ever thought about the concept of Space FPS, then this game is for you. The boundary has 6 or 10 people divided in a team of 2, fighting for their lives, not in a battleground, not on earth, but SPACE.
Ten heavily armed astronauts, astroperators, rather, will be battling it out against each other in multiple multiplayer maps. The game has a different vibe to it than other common FPS games, and it’s obvious why.
The gamers will be pitted against one other in a zero-gravity environment in space. It is also possible to be assaulted from all sides. Obstacles will obstruct your progress, so you’ll need to practice your movement and aim. There will be speed boosters such as grappling hooks for rapid movement and much more. To be sure, mastering this game will not be easy, but it will be an entirely unique experience.
If we take a look at the guns, then we have the close-range killer shotguns, the medium-range assault rifles, and the evergreen, long-range snipers. There are a variety of weapon classes that you can make and go through them to see what suits you. Moreover, there is a dedicated shooting range as well where you can practice your movement, aim, and get a good look at every gun.
Besides, there are first aid kits, grappling hooks, tactical usage, and a ton more stuff that you can equip and jump right into the battle. These will help you in navigating the map easily. Be that as it may, make sure to use them appropriately. Your team tactics need to be top-notch alongside the execution.
Now let’s come to the best feature of the game. Very distinct from other first-person shooters, Boundary will have all six directions to move. Left, right, top, bottom, forward, backward. This means that you can be attacked from all sides and vice versa. The aim and movement in this game are going to be tough to master, that’s for sure.
Fortunately, an official gameplay walkthrough of Boundary has been released. You can check out the video below.
Boundary Exciting Game Modes
There is no doubt that game modes are something that makes a game more interesting and enjoyable. Similarly, Boundary has a bunch of electrifying game modes that are ones to look at.
Below, we will be quickly discussing what modes the game has to offer.
1. Facility Capture
As the name suggests, it is about capturing an area. You can relate more to it if you have previously played the domination mode in Call of Duty. It is similar to that as we have to hold some particular areas of a map in order to gain points and eventually win the round. In spite of that, the kills will matter a lot too. The more you kill the enemies, the more time you have to capture and hold the objectives.Â
2. Team Deathmatch
Don’t think we need much explanation for this. Everyone is aware of what a team deathmatch is. Just go out there and kill your enemies as fast as you can to reach the 40-points mark first. Don’t give away kills though. However, it may not be as easy as it seems.
3. Skirmish
This game mode provides equal opportunity for both teams. Here, we will have both the teams spawning with exactly the same loadouts including weapons, tactical equipment, medkits, etc. Identical weapon-class and items mean we have an equally balanced match to look forward to. No excuses after losing this one, chief.
4. Orbital Purge
Last but certainly not least, we have the Orbital Purge. Like the Search & Destroy mode of Call of Duty and the Counter Strike’s Bomb Defusal, we have a team planting the bomb and the other trying to defuse it in this one.
This game mode can be a great one for the competitive scene. There aren’t many FPS games that have what Boundary offers, so a potentially big fan is obvious quickly after the release. Most of the gamers have played COD and CSGO at some part of their lives, so getting a grip on Orbital Purge won’t be a hard task.
Boundary Will have Six Different Operators
Astronauts plus Operators make Astroperators. The operators in Boundary, as told by the devs, are going to be six. Two of them have been revealed, whereas the info regarding the other four might come soon. Keep a check on the official Twitter handle if you don’t want to lose any important information.
A couple of operators include Sergey Vodka and Ilse Shielder, respectively. The former is a combat master and will be handy in winning gunfights. He will be ideal for the players going with the slayer role.
On the other hand, Ilse has more of a support role and can make a great combination with an assaulter. You can even use her as a secondary or backup fragger in a gunfight.
The developers might reveal the other four operators soon, but there hasn’t been an official wording as of yet. It’s been more than two years of waiting, I guess we can wait a bit more as well.
Boundary Trailer
Phenomenal and jaw-dropping graphics, no surprises there. The trailer shows some snippets of the gameplay alongside the aesthetics of the game. Moreover, we can see multiple operators, weapons, maps, game modes and much more.
The gameplay looks as smooth as silk and the scenery just adds up to it. That being said, when the game officially launches, there will be some more tweaks here and there to optimize it even more and provide the best experience possible to FPS lovers.
So, what’s the wait all about? Check out the trailer uploaded by the official channel of SkystoneGames.
