Call of Duty Modern Warfare II’s new mode which is named DMZ will not exist independently as a free title according to Twitter user RalphValve. It will get treated as a traditional separate CP mode according to them.
What a CP mode means has not been clarified but most players are thinking that it might be related to the Call of Duty Points. These have been abbreviated as CP. But it’s almost sure that the game won’t be free as Warzone.
RalphValve has also said that the PlayStation Exclusivity deal for the game is still unclear. Activision and Sony haven’t announced any exclusivity deal between them regarding future Call of Duty titles yet.
The most recent one, Call of Duty Vanguard has also received the exclusivity treatment. As such, it won’t be a surprise if Modern Warfare II receives the same. There might be a possibility that the DMZ mode will be a timed PlayStation exclusive but it remains to be seen.
Modern Warfare II DMZ Mode
Modern Warfare II will reportedly receive a full 3-year development cycle according to Tom Henderson. It is the first game in the Call of Duty series to receive such treatment which means Activision and Infinity Ward are going all-in on this one.
The rumored DMZ mode is said to be inspired by games like Escape From Tarkov. The DMZ mode might feature a lite battle royale mode where you have the ability to collect guns and lose all progress of your equipment when you are killed. This is similar to the raids present in Escape From Tarkov.
In addition, this mode will replace the beloved Spec-Ops mode which has been a staple in the Modern Warfare series. The mode has been in development since 2018 according to Henderson.
It will receive a full 4-year development when it will get released in 2022. In addition to that, players have been eagerly waiting for the sequel to 2019’s critically acclaimed Modern Warfare. So, we have to wait and see what Activision and Infinity Ward have in store for all of us.
