CD Projekt Red recently conducted their group H1 results conference. The conference gave us the sales numbers for CDPR along with information about the new projects they are working on. The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077 IPs as expected were the highlights of the show.

While Cyberpunk 2077 was a mess at launch CDPR gradually updated the game and thankfully it is mostly bug-free now. It also works fine on lower-powered consoles such as the Series S at 60 FPS. But certain comments by CDPR’s vice president of business development, MichaÅ‚ Nowakowski have hinted at something interesting about the game’s future.

Future of the Cyberpunk IP

Nowakowski has stated that CDPR is totally and fully committed to developing the Cyberpunk IP even further. Talking at the conference he said that they aren’t done with the Cyberpunk franchise. However, the Phantom Liberty expansion would be the only expansion coming to CP2077. This line clearly hints that the Cyberpunk IP CDPR is working on could be a brand-new CP2077 project.

Nowakowski stated:

'We decided to develop one major expansion for Cyberpunk, which is going to take advantage of all the capabilities of the new-gen consoles. Having said that, we’re totally, fully committed to developing the Cyberpunk IP further, beyond this particular Cyberpunk expansion.'

With that said, the comments could not directly mean that CDPR is working on a new game as they have plans for Netflix shows too. Recently they announced a Netflix spin-off show called Edge Runners, maybe they mean to expand that even further. Nowakowski further said:

We’ve put a lot of effort and time into building this franchise and we definitely want to continue to build upon what was built right now with new stories, new experiences, and new content, basically. Not just the video game format. In terms of expansions, there’s just going to be one major expansion. However, there’s going to be new stuff in the future.

The roadmap is quite clear as CDPR has multi-team criteria now, so different teams are working on different projects simultaneously. This will help in escalated speeds of development and if indeed a new Cyberpunk game will come out, hopefully, it won’t take 15 years and still be a fiasco.

At this point, everything is up for anticipation as there is no solid news. For now, CDPR is planning to launch the next-gen upgrade for the Witcher 3 along with the DLC Phantom liberty. We really hope CDPR has something great for us in stock. Till then stay tuned for further leaks and information.

Do you guys think there will be more games in Cyberpunk IP? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
