  • Crimson Desert is a single-player title
  • Won't be multiplayer
  • A different direction by the devs

Developers Pearl Abyss have confirmed that Crimson Desert is a single-player game. The devs are mostly known for their MMORPGs, so this is quite a change of route for them. But, it seems they’ve managed to do a decent job as the Crimson Desert gameplay was one of the highlights of the Gamescom ONL.

Crimson Desert Skips Multiplayer, is a Single-Player Title Instead

Black Desert Online is the game Pearl Abyss is really known for. And the influence of their popular game is quite apparent in Crimson Desert. However, instead of integrating multiplayer, it completely skips it for a ‘strictly single-player’ RPG experience.

Despite it not being an MMO, certain elements of it are still present. Crimson Desert seems to be very influenced by The Witcher and Assassin’s Creed, with its exploration, combat, and overall gameplay. And it manages to look wonderful with its breathtaking visuals and environments.

It’s great to see Pearl Abyss is heading in a new direction with Crimson Desert. Black Desert Online at this point is a very well-polished game, and naturally, we would expect the same from the upcoming release.

The title for now is a work-in-progress and we don’t currently have a release date for it. But the trailer does show in-game footage which is subject to change as the development progresses. It is planned for a launch on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.

Abdullah is an avid gamer who primarily plays single-player titles. If you can't find him anywhere, he'll probably be at his desk playing The Witcher 3 for the millionth time. When he isn't playing games, he's either reading or writing about them.
