Cyberpunk 2077 is a great example of never giving up. The game was released to a great uproar from fans and critics alike. It was buggy and poorly optimized and was review bombed. But, it saw the biggest resurgence in the gaming industry as CDPR worked its magic and made it THE game everyone was hyped for. Now, Cyberpunk 2077 is even receiving a Game of the Year edition.
Cyberpunk 2077 Game of the Year
CEO of CDPR, Adam Kicinski, in an investor meeting has revealed plans to launch a Cyberpunk 2077 Game of the Year edition (via stockwatch.pl, thanks to insider-gaming). The GOTY is planned to release after the launch of Phantom Liberty expansion in 2023. Speaking in the meeting Kicinski resolutely stated:
It’s the natural order of things – it was the same with The Witcher, which after both expansions was finally released as a Game of the Year Edition and has been on the market that way ever since. The same can be expected in this case.

So, from what we know so far, there will be Phantom Liberty first, followed by Cyberpunk 2077 Game of the Year, which will most likely also include the DLC. Also, the GOTY edition will be a full-priced release, but that is expected.
CDPR will Stop Working on Cyberpunk 2077 after GOTY
CDPR’s CEO also revealed that this will be the last main thing for Cyberpunk 2077 after which they’ll put it to bed and start work on the sequel. Of course, CDPR announced that a sequel for Cyberpunk 2077 is in the works. It was earlier codenamed ‘Project Orion’ but was later revealed as the sequel to CP2077.
With the much-awaited The Witcher 3 next-gen patch just a few days away, Cyberpunk 2077 DLC, sequel and GOTY, and other Witcher games also in development, CDPR has had and will have a busy schedule in the coming years. But we really hope they deliver the best version of everything coming our way.
