A new trailer for Dead Island 2 was released by Deep Silver explaining the various mechanics including the weapons and skills system of the game. The fourteen-minute extended trailer detailed these and how players can use them. It also expanded upon the FLESH system that was previously mentioned. The trailer showed off the action in the early minutes in Los Angeles.

The trailer showed off Dani, one of the six playable characters in the game. She has been described as a balanced character who is well-suited to a balanced style of gameplay. Players will be able to personalize each of the character’s fighting styles according to their needs.

Dead Island 2 Weapons and Skills System

The trailer also showcased the variety of weapons available in Dead Island 2. Both melee weapons and guns will be available for players to use. The melee weapons include the claw hammer, sledgehammer, katana, Wolverine-like claws, and more. Each of these is unique and brutal against the zombies. They also have certain perks and mods to make them stand out and provide an extra edge in encounters. There are also a variety of guns, from long-range to close-range ones, all intended to pack a mean punch. Throwable equipment like packs of blood to draw zombies away was also shown.

The skills system is also properly shown here with players having skill cards that are individual abilities. Players will be able to combine them to create their own unique set that will be effective in combat as well as exploration. Variants of zombies were shown including the standard and highly mutated ones, each having unique behavior and abilities.

Dead Island 2 is set for worldwide release on April 21 this year on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via the Epic Games Store.
