After a recent update, Destruction AllStars might seemingly become a free-to-play game. The PS5 exclusive had received a massive new update which brings in massive improvements to the UI and gameplay. But as soon as you open the game after updating, the text for in-game challenges appears as code references instead of text.

Each of the challenges had the prefix “BS_F2P_CHALLENGE”. This potentially might indicate the game going free to play in the future. This was discovered by Reddit user u/Mr_WeeWoo in a Reddit post along with an image.

Destruction AllStars as Free To Play

Sony released Destruction AllStars as an exclusive for the PS5. It is a vehicular combat game which means you have to destroy your opponent’s vehicles to win. You can also try to obtain your opponent’s vehicles if your one is destroyed. The game was mixed received by fans and critics who liked the gameplay but criticized the number of microtransactions in the game.

Destruction AllStars was a PS Plus game for the first two months of its release which was praised by fans. But overall it didn’t achieve the goals it was meant to achieve. Making the game free to play is a great way to bring in new players. Sony can also try to push the game on PS4 if possible since the player base on that console is still large. And they’ll definitely benefit if they bring the game to PC.

The standard edition of the game costs 19.99$ which honestly isn’t worth the price. The digital deluxe edition also costs a whopping 39.99$ which doesn’t bring that much extra content. At this point, it’s just speculation but if Sony is targeting the free-to-play model for this game, then it will surely be beneficial for them in the future.
