Dragon Age: Dreadwolf

BioWare has officially announced the 4th mainline installment in the Dragon Age series titled Dragon Age: Dreadwolf. Fans of the series might know that Dreadwolf refers to Solas, a well-known character in the lore of the game world. According to BioWare, more details regarding the game will come later this year.

Dragon Age: Dreadwolf – What We Know So Far

The BioWare blog shares details about Solas the Dreadwolf, who has obvious strong connections to the game. The blog states ”Solas, the Dread Wolf. Some say he might be an ancient elven god, but some say not. Others say a betrayer of his people…or a savior who now seeks to rescue them at the cost of your world. His motives are inscrutable and his methods sometimes questionable, earning him a reputation as something of a trickster deity—a player of dark and dangerous games.”

The announcement of the game might suggest that Solas will serve as the antagonist of the game to some extent. Although it isn’t confirmed if he is the only one. They also say ”Solas’s namesake no doubt suggests a spectrum of endless possibilities on where things may go”, suggesting player choice might have a huge effect in the game.

Dragon Age 4 Concept Art shared by Bioware

Dragon Age: Dreadwolf began development in 2015. Originally, the game was set to be a more narrative-focused experience but later on, the company decided on a live service multiplayer approach similar to the style of Anthem. But seeing the success of Jedi: Fallen Order by Respawn Entertainment, they decided to go back to a single-player focused game. The game was first announced at the Game Awards 2018 followed by a brief teaser trailer in 2020 featuring Solas. The game is not releasing this year as confirmed by BioWare but we will surely see more of it very soon. Adding to that, Dreadwolf is also rumored to be slated for release only on current-gen consoles i.e the PS5 and the Xbox Series X|S.
