EA and Koei Tecmo collaborating for a hunting game had been known for quite a while now. Though we had scarce information about the game, it hinted toward a Monster Hunter-like game. The game is now titled ‘Wild Hearts’.
This new game, according to EA and Koei Tecmo, “delivers a fully AAA experience centered in fantasy feudal Japan.” It will be created by Koei Tecmo’s Omega Force, famed for creating the Musou action games Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors. Today we got a reveal trailer for the game that also announced the release date.
Wild Heart Trailer Reveals Release Date
Today we got the much-anticipated trailer for Wild Hearts. The trailer shows some of the gameplay aspects along with a February 17 release date. The gameplay seems to be very reminiscent of Monster Hunter and Dauntless. You can see the trailer here:
The description of the trailer reads:
'Master ancient tech to hunt down giant beasts. WILD HEARTS™ is a unique twist on the hunting genre where technology gives you a fighting chance against fearsome beasts infused with the ferocious power of nature itself. Take on these creatures alone or hunt with friends in seamless co-op.'
You can play the game either as a single-player or co-op with up to two friends. But the good thing is that the game doesn’t have any platform restrictions so cross-play parties are supported. While pack hunting, players have the option to improve their strategies, complete unique quests, team up with other hunters globally, or face up against Kemono alone.
More on EA and Koei Tecmo’s Partnership
Japan is one of the most essential markets in the world and EA realizes that too. We recently saw Microsoft and Sony stressing a lot about the importance of the Japanese market and releasing a ton of games targeted at it.
Koei Tecmo already has some good games under its belt. They’ve also published the Nioh series as well. In an interview with IGN Koei Tecmo’s Directors:
'Our goal of creating a Japanese-style hunting game for a new generation remained consistent from start to finish, but making this core idea a reality was not something that happened overnight stated. In terms of basic design, we are not overly conscious of focusing just on a Western audience, and as Japanese developer, we try to create something we think is fun. EA is of the same opinion and really respects our creativity.'
Wild Hearts will drop on February 17, 2023. It will be next-gen only and available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Origin, Steam, and Epic Game Store. Also, the game will be available in English, Japanese, French, Italian, German and Spanish voiceovers.
