Square Enix has confirmed that Final Fantasy XVI will have a New Game Plus mode at launch. In a four-hour pre-launch stream, one of the key reveals was the presence of a New Game Plus mode. This mode will be available to players who have beaten the main game.
The stream went into detail on what players can expect in New Game Plus mode. The level cap will be raised to 100 in the New Game Plus mode dubbed the ”Final Fantasy Mode” in-game. Players will be able to carry over their progress from their original playthrough including their acquired items and abilities. The enemies in Final Fantasy Mode will also receive a bump in difficulty as they will be much harder to defeat. Players will also be able to craft the iconic Ultima Weapon in this playthrough.
Additionally, completing the Final Fantasy Mode will reward players with a Gold Trophy which is necessary to get the Platinum Trophy on PlayStation. So, the mode will definitely be lucrative to the trophy hunters as well as those who would like a bit of a challenge if they find their first playthrough easy.
Previously the developers had said that it would take around 35 hours to complete the game’s story and 70-80 hours to do everything. So, this would mean the Final Fantasy Mode would also take 35-40 hours to complete provided one focuses only on the story. This would give them the Gold Trophy and would help them in getting the Platinum. That sums up around 120-130 hours just to get the Platinum trophy for the game. With this many hours, getting the Platinum Trophy will definitely be a challenge to many, but it is certainly not impossible.
Final Fantasy XVI Release Date
Final Fantasy XVI is set for release on the PlayStation 5 on June 22.
