Some footage of the upcoming open-world Need for Speed game for mobile has appeared recently on the web. Reddit user u/Clxbsport posted 46 seconds of open-world gameplay on the Need For Speed subreddit. Apparently, this footage was published in an NFS discord from another user u/NFSLYY. They reveal much more vital information regarding the game too.
Open World Need For Speed For Mobile: What We Know So Far
The rumors of a new open-world Need for Speed game specifically for mobile devices first appeared when Tencent had job listings for a ‘well known big IP realistic racing mobile game’. Along with that, a Reddit post showing the Product List of Tencent in 2021 mentions ‘Need For Speed Online Mobile’.
The new open-world NFS for mobile is being made on Unreal Engine 4 as seen from the listings. So, it’s pretty much a given that the graphics will be really amazing. It might be close or even better than the most recent NFS Heat.
According to u/NFSLYY, there are currently only three cars: the McLaren F1, the Lamborghini Aventador SVJR, and Lamborghini Gallardo. The map will be that of NFS Heat i.e. Palm City, inspired by the real-life Miami. They mention that there will be no story mode or the police either. The handling is similar to NFS EDGE, a previous free-to-play NFS game.
It can be said with certainty that the game will need a constant internet connection to play due to the product title being ‘Need for Speed Online Mobile’, though it might not be the final name. As seen in the leaked footage, there is both day and night in the game. But it’s not sure whether it will be dynamic. By the looks, the game is in the testing phase and might be nearly complete. It is possible that we might get an announcement later this year.
Currently, there is only one NFS mobile game which is Need for Speed: No Limits released back in 2015. It has received positive reviews over the year and is still going strong.
