Forspoken is the first game for Luminous Productions, the new studio by Square Enix. The game made its debut during the PS5 software reveal back in 2020. Then, it was known as ‘Project Athia’. According to Square Enix, the game will harness the full power of the Playstation 5 console. Technological features like ray-tracing and procedural generation will be featured heavily in the game. Interestingly, the game will be exclusive to the Playstation 5 for at least two years before making its way to another console. That means we won’t see the game on Xbox until at least 2025.

In Forspoken, players will take the role of Frey Holland, living in New York City, who is transported to Athia, a fantasy world. Frey will use her magical powers which she gains to traverse Athia and find her way back home. The game will release on the Playstation 5 and Microsoft Windows.
