Unlike some recent games on consoles, God of War Raganork seems to provide some good variations in graphical options. If you were wondering whether you can play the game at a locked 60 FPS, yes, you very well can. Along, with it also provides some other options.

God of War Ragnarok Graphics Options

Press-Start has revealed some of the graphics modes that you can customize. Impressively it even supports a 120 FPS mode fully utilizing the capability of HDMI 2.1. You can see all the options below:

  • Favor Resolution: 4K at locked 30 FPS
  • Favor Performance: Locked 60 FPS
  • Favor Resolution: (High Frame Rate On), 4K at 40FPS Locked (HDMI 2.1 required)
  • Favor Performance: (High Frame Rate On), Targeting 120 FPS (HDMI 2.1 required)

Obviously, you will need to have supported hardware to utilize the full potential of performance. You need to have a monitor or TV that supports 4K/120Hz and HDMI 2.1. Although, if there is no 120HZ on your display you’ll still be able to run a locked 60 FPS at upscaled resolution or true 4K at 30 FPS.

Of course, a smooth gaming experience is what every gamer is after. And according to the source’s early hands-on experience, the frame rate is indeed smooth. With a supported display, 4K at 40 FPS seems to be a great experience with the variable refresh rate turned on. They further state that even dropping to performance mode doesn’t take a whole lot of toll on the resolution.

Where games like Gotham Knights are doing 30 FPS on next-gen consoles for no apparent reason, this title seems to be going in the right direction. Providing users to choose their own gameplay options seems to be the right thing to do and we hope other game developers follow suit.

God of War Ragnarok drops on November 9, 2022, and you can pre-order it on PlayStation 4 and 5 right now. You can read more about the game here.
