Gamescom 2022 is set to take place on August 23. The event will be held in Germany and take place in the form of a 2-hours long live stream though there will be an in-person presence as well.
According to Geoff Keighley, there will be more than 30 games showcased at the event. However, in the latest news, there might be another presence at the event and interestingly that could be Hideo Kojima presenting his brand new game.
Earlier today, Kojima appeared to be working on putting together a teaser to show off when he tweeted two shots of editing software on his computer with the statement, “Tentatively done editing for now.” It seems quite probable that he’s hinting that a trailer will be revealed at the Opening Night Live showcase on August 24 given that Gamescom is only a few weeks away.
Ever since we found out about the existence of Project Overdose fans have been longing to learn more about Kojima’s brand-new horror game. However, the Tweet could imply multiple meanings.
It could be either that Kojima is working on a trailer showcase for Project Overdose. It was first announced back in Summer Game Fest 2022 when Kojima made a much-anticipated appearance to inform about the future of his studio.
However, many leakers claimed that a trailer for Overdose already exists and features Death Stranding actress Margaret Quailey. So, it is highly unlikely that the trailer is of Project Overdose, though he could be adding finishing touches.
Another possibility could be that the game is indeed the much-anticipated Death Stranding sequel. We know that Kojima is working on Death Stranding 2. There have been multiple reports and even sort of confirmation from Norman Reedus, the man who plays protagonist Sam Bridges in Death Stranding 1.
It is also entirely possible that the Tweet was just a random one and there might be nothing planned at all. Although it is well-known that Kojima likes to drop subtle cryptic hints before game showcases. If he indeed doesn’t appear at the Gamecom he could be editing something for The Game Awards as well that will also take place later this year.
Do you guys think Kojima will announce something at the Gamescom 2022? Let us know in the comments.
