Like a Dragon 8 Officially Revealed and Launches in 2024

Sega and Ryu Ga Gotoku have officially revealed the title of their next game in the Yakuza series titled ‘Like a Dragon 8’. It seems that this game will drop the Yakuza name for the time being. A trailer was shown during the Ryu Ga Gotoku Summit live stream. In the trailer, Yakuza: Like A Dragon’s protagonist, Ichiban Kasuga was reunited with Yakuza 1-6’s protagonist, Kiryu Kazuma.

Like a Dragon 8 Details and Release Date

Like a Dragon 8 will release on the Playstation 4, Playstation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam in 2024. A specific release window wasn’t revealed during the announcement. There isn’t much information on Like a Dragon 8 as the trailer didn’t reveal much other than the two protagonists. One noticeable difference was Kiryu, who looked much older and had grey hair. This seems to indicate a lot of time has passed on since his disappearance in Yakuza 6. Like a Dragon 8 will also use the RPG elements that were present in Like a Dragon as well.

It seems that Ryu Ga Gotoku studios hs currently has three official games in development. The remake of Like a Dragon: Ishin! was announced recently during the PlayStation State of Play and is scheduled for a February 2023 release. In addition to that, Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Has No Erased His Name was also announced for release in 2024. This will be a prequel to Like a Dragon 8 and will fill the gaps between Kiryu’s disappearance in Yakuza 6 and his return in Like a Dragon 8.
