2019’s Man of Medan was the first entry that kicked off the Dark Anthology series. Little Hope was the title that followed it later in 2020. The Anthology series, which included terrifying stories from the Curator’s personal library of stories, premiered with these games.
Originally launched on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One the games didn’t natively support the next-gen hardware that launched later. Fans had been demanding a next-gen update for quite some time now. Supermassive Games, it seems was listening and they’ve finally launched the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S updates for both the games.
PS5 and Xbox Series X|S Updates for Man of Medan and Little Hope
Supermassive Games announced today that a new update is being rolled out for both the games that will see them natively support PS5 and Xbox Series. You can see the announcement trailer here:
For starters, all owners of either of these games (older consoles) may now download a free update that enhances several game mechanics and creates a more immersive experience.
Some of the new content being added to the game has been limited to Man of Medan. But mostly both the games will have similar updates. To be more precise, we will see the following improvements in both Man of Medan and Little Hope:
- New difficulty settings & QTE warnings,
- Improved UI & interactions,
- Updated bearing art & event triggers,
- Increased walking speeds,
- More accessibility options, including subtitle sizing
Moreover, the game might also support 4K at 60 FPS which is natively available on both the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Ray-tracing is another thing that could be coming as both consoles have support for it.
Additionally, Man of Medan is getting new content as well in the form of a new chapter. The new chapter will be called ‘Flooded’ and it will introduce new gameplay and new deaths to add to the climactic ending of the game.
The updates are live now on both Xbox and PlayStation. They will also be available to buy in the respective game stores. For previous owners, the update will be free. But on the PlayStation 4, if you got the digital copy through PS Essential, that, unfortunately, won’t count.
More about the Anthology Series
The main target of The Anthology series is to provide gamers with the horrific experiences of a true horror game. Both Man of Medan and Little Hope do that quite successfully. Although the games haven’t had the best of receptions by the audience, if you are into the genre you should give them a go.
This is also a perfect time to revisit or play both titles for the first time as the last entry in the Season 1 trilogy is coming soon. The game will be called ‘The Devil in Me‘ and seems every bit as spooky as the previous entries. It comes out on November 18, 2022, and will be available on all next-gen as well as older consoles and PC.
