Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 WILL INDEED run at 60 FPS as Tweeted by The Snitch. Less than 2 months away at this point, it is one of the most sought-after games for 2023. Fans will be delighted to read that the game comes with both fidelity and a performance mode.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Will Run 60 FPS Via Performance Mode
UPDATE: This stems from a misunderstanding due to an insider-gaming article outlining features available for Spider-Man Remastered. These are not the features for the title
Spider-Man is known for his agility and reflexes in combat and movement, so locking at 30 FPS wouldn’t have made much sense. Thankfully Insomniac thought about it and they are adding a performance mode to Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Of course, there will be an option to play at lower frames and higher quality as well.
According to Snitch, the fidelity mode will run the title at a native 4K resolution with 30 FPS and ray tracing. The higher refresh rate will come at the expanse of graphics fidelity. So, the title will aim for upscaled 4K graphics without any ray tracing. But for most people, the higher refresh rate will be way more preferred than the little bit better visuals.
This is also a great time to talk about how Sony is taking advantage of the PS5’s power. It is always good to see titles running at 60 FPS. The upscaled 4K visuals along with that are an added bonus. Plus the 60 FPS are now consistent with Sony’s releases as God of War Ragnarok also ran at 60 FPS at 1440p.
Sony hasn’t yet revealed a complete detail of the modes and how they’ll affect the performance as they did for GoW Ragnarok. But there are still 2 months, so we can expect an official notice soon. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 comes out on October 20th.
