Ever since the awesome Spider-Man 2 gameplay overview at the PlayStation Showcase, we all had one question in our minds. We see a seamless switch between Peter and Miles, leading to the question if we will be able to do that freely or only when the game allows. Turns out you can switch between the characters freely (Mostly).
Spider-Man 2 Character Switching Explained
Talking to an interview with EuroGamer, Spider-Man 2’s creative director Bryan Intihar explained how the character switching works. When you are following the main story, the game decides whether you play as Miles or Peter based on the scenario, just like we saw in the gameplay.
However, when you are out there swinging in New York, in the open world, you can switch freely between them. Content has been made around the two characters separately so you don’t miss out on playing as either Peter or Miles. Intihar stated:
We have content designed around Peter, we have content designed around Miles and we have content where you can play either. You’ll be able to – in the open world – freely switch between them with a simple button press. This is thanks to the power of the PlayStation 5.
This is major news for the people who were curious about Spider-Man 2’s character switching and we have to admit this hypes the title even more. Additionally, there will also be three skill trees, one for Peter, one for Miles, and one shared.
According to Peter Parker’s voice actor Yuri Lowenthal, despite the comprehensive gameplay overview we have seen nothing yet. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 comes out in Fall 2023 exclusively for the PlayStation 5.
