Crimson Desert was first shown at 2020’s Game Awards with a promising display. However, the game has been a no-show since then leaving us wondering what exactly it is about. Finally, 3 years later, Pearl Abyss CEO has revealed that new footage for the game will be shown at Gamescom 2023.
Pearl Abyss Reveals New Crimson Desert Footage Coming Soon
Apart from the Game Awards 2020, the last time we heard about the game was at an earnings call. It stated that Crimson Desert was indeed entering its final stages of development. Now at their latest 2Q 2023 earnings conference, they’ve revealed that more footage will be shown at the Gamescom 2023 beginning in just a week.
As for the title itself, it’s an action RPG that was first planned as a Black Desert prequel. Later the idea was shelved for a separate IP. The game puts you in a world of Pywel and you have to travel to different regions making allies to help you with your cause.
It is planned to be a current-gen game only and reports suggest it also supports 4K 60 FPS on PS5 and XSX. Pearl Abyss also revealed that the game is very likely to release by the end of this year. From the gameplay trailer we saw in 2020, Crimson Desert felt very much like a mix of The Witcher 3 and Assassin’s Creed. And with the breathtaking environments also being a part of it, we are really looking forward to the new footage.
