Whether it’s the Game Pass or their recent acquisitions, there’s no denying Microsoft has been growing a lot recently. At their recent showcases, Xbox also announced tons of new content for the consoles as well as for the Game pass.
If you thought the recent Activision and Blizzard deal was the final one Microsoft is going to make, you’re mistaken. Xbox head Phil Spencer has stated that Microsoft will keep growing and won’t stop where it is right now.
More Acquisitions for Microsoft
In an interview with CNBC, Phil Spencer stated that they are always looking to grow. Spencer said:
'It’s a highly, highly competitive market. We strive to be a major player here. We want to deliver great content for our players and we’re going to remain active, whether that’s investing in our internal teams that are already building great games that people know and love, whether it’s building new partnerships.”
Spencer further added that Sony is a bigger business than Microsoft yet they are always investing. Similarly, Tencent is the biggest name in the gaming industry and they also continue to heavily invest.
At their recent TGS showcase, Microsoft revealed that they are now finally the biggest shareholders in the Asian market. The market was previously dominated by Sony and Nintendo. With Microsoft being very positive about the Activision deal, there is only one way they can go from here and that is ahead.
No Price Hike on Xbox Consoles
Recent years haven’t been kind to businesses. We saw Sony increase the prices of PlayStation 5 in various parts of the world to meet profits. While everyone was expecting Microsoft to follow suit, that won’t be the case.
In the CNBC interview when asked about price hikes Spencer stated that raising the prices of the Xbox consoles is not the best course of action for customers during these times of global economic unrest.
Microsoft also announced a ton of new games and stuff at the TGS. A lot of new games are slated for day 1 release on Xbox Game Pass. With Game Pass providing such a great value and Xbox now being a lot cheaper than the PlayStation 5, this could intimidate a lot of gamers.
Microsoft has also updated Xbox a lot. Recent updates saw the boot speed becoming better. They are also testing a new Dashboard screen which provides ease of access to the users. All in all Microsoft’s future does look bright.
