Pokémon Brilliant Diamond has been topping the charts as the best-selling game in the UK for the last week, with Shining Pearl following in close second. Christopher Dring shared these interesting stats on his Twitter. He is an authority Video Game Journalist currently working with Gameindustry.biz.

Not only that, Pokémon Brilliant Diamond is also the biggest Switch launch this year, beating Mario 3D World, Zelda: Skyward Sword and Monster Hunter Rise by a clear margin. And that is without even counting Shining Pearl! Perhaps the most surprising stats Dring had to share was that Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl’s combined boxed sales are the second biggest this year, with FIFA 22 in the lead.

When big shots like Activision/Blizzard, Rockstar, and EA seem to be having a bad spell in terms of game releases, scandals, and controversies, Pokémon games are doing incredibly well for themselves. The rise of these games to the top of the charts brings about an end to the COD: Vanguard’s two-week-long position at the top, whose sales are now down 37% week-on-week.

Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl-Superstar Remakes

Perhaps next time, Rockstar should learn from this franchise the art of remaking the games. Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are the remakes of the popular Pokémon Diamond and Pearl games. The latest remakes were released on 19th November. Seeing their meteoric rise, one can confidently assume that they are destined to become 8th-generation fan favorites.
