Gran Turismo is Sony’s long-running simulation racing game franchise. The game till now has been a PlayStation exclusive, but that might be changing as the developers state they are looking to launch the game on PC. With many PlayStation exclusives having already been ported to PC, looks like the racing game will be another addition.

Gran Turismo PC Port is Being Considered

GTPlanet recently talked to GT series creator Kazunori Yamauchi, at the Gran Turismo’s 25th Anniversary. Yamauchi revealed that they are indeed considering the port but the process will be really challenging. When asked if they are launching the game on PC Yamauchi replied :

Yes, I do think so. Gran Turismo is a very finely tuned title. There are not many platforms which could run the game in 4K/60p natively, so one way we make that possible is to narrow down the platform. It’s not a very easy subject, but of course, we are looking into it and considering it

But of course, with proper optimization and hardware, the performance issues can be easily handled. The game runs fine on a PlayStation 4 that launched about 10 years ago, and the current PC hardware is good enough to handle even the most intensive titles. Yes, the PS4’s graphics fidelity is lower compared to a PS5, but graphical settings can be tweaked to make the game run properly even on weaker hardware.

There are already some impressive racing options available on PC including the Forza series. But Gran Turismo joining the mix would add another great title to the roster. While Forza is a game that focuses mainly on casual driving in an open world, Gran Turismo takes a more serious approach to race with its depth. And it would be really fun having both options on PC.

While the statement doesn’t clarify that they are indeed working on the port, it does make it imminent in the future. With Need for Speed Unbound also coming soon, it’s a great time to be a racing games fan. Although we really hope that Sony announced something on the port really soon.
