Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive are two of Team Ninja’s most popular franchises. The developers are known for action and fighting games and the two franchises perfectly embody that. Ninja Gaiden is a legendary franchise that was first released in 1988, while Dead or Alive kicked off in 1996. The last Ninja Gaiden came out in 2014 as a spinoff to the series. And now, reboots of both Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive seem to be planned.

Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive Reboots

While Dead or Alive saw releases in recent years, Ninja Gaiden is the one that’s been missing, It is also the more popular of the two. Ninja Gaiden was released as an action-platformer in 1988. It later got a trilogy between 2004, 2008, and 2012 with a spinoff title in 2014. So, the fans would be delighted to hear about the reboot news.

The news has been confirmed directly by Team Ninja and not the IP’s owners Koei Tecmo. Team Ninja discussed a variety of topics during their keynote address at the Korea G-Star conference, from their core philosophy to their goals on a global scale. Their most notable remarks, though, came at the conference’s conclusion, when they said that Dead or Alive and Ninja Gaiden reboots are planned for the future.

Unfortunately, that was all we got from the conference. It’s almost impossible to guess when the reboots could release. We don’t even know if they are currently in conceptual, pre-production, or at a later stage, so it’s best to stay tuned for further information.

Koei Tecmo did release a Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection in 2021. It contained definitive editions of the trilogy for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. That could be interpreted as Team Ninja’s approach to see if people are still interested or not.

Team Ninja is Having a Busy Schedule

While they’ve announced the reboot plans for Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive, Team Ninja has other projects too. They have an action RPG Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty planned for 2023. They are also developing their open-world ‘Rise of Ronin’ game which they’ve deemed as their most ambitious project yet.

It will be interesting to see how Team Ninja manages to fit the reboots with an already very busy schedule. But we really have our hopes up for some great games coming our way in the future.
