Arkane Studios has revealed a brand new Redfall trailer that shows the abilities and backstory of Layla, one of the playable characters from the game. Redfall features a total of 4 playable characters namely Jacob Boyer, Devinder ‘Dev’ Crousley, Remi De La Rosa, and Layla Ellison. IGN has released an exclusive first look at Layla’s character arc.
Layla From Redfall Reveals a Ferocious Hero
The Redfall Layla trailer opens with her explaining how she got involved in the Redfall vampire infestation. She was a student at Redfall, with loads of student loans piling up. She became a part of Aevum Laboratories’ medical experiments to earn a bit of money, where she got her psychic powers.
Her fight begins at the start of the plague when she and her ex-boyfriend were out for a movie. They were attacked by some vampires, and while Jack was taken by them, Layla managed to fight her way through using her powers. The backstory has been revealed using a beautiful animation style.
Jack (Spoiler Alert, not so much) got himself transformed into a vampire who is now Layla’s ally. Following is a list of powers Layla uses in Redfall courtesy of IGN:
- Power 1: Summon a psychic umbrella to block enemy and friendly projectiles.
- Power 2: Summon a psychic lift that launches you into the air.
- Ultimate Ability: Call in a favor from your ex-boyfriend, Jason, who happens to be a vampire
Layla’s abilities will certainly come in handy when sneaking onto rooftops and attaining high ground. Arkane revealed that each character from Redfall is going to have unique abilities and their story would unfold accordingly. Layla’s fast-paced gameplay looks awesome and we can’t wait to have a look at the rest of the roster. Redfall comes out on May 2, 2023.
