Max Payne Remakes: What We Know

The first Max Payne game was released back in 2001 to critical acclaim. It used the Bullet Time gameplay mechanic which slowed down time in order to shoot popularised by The Matrix. Till now, very few games have managed to capture Bullet Time more perfectly than the first Max Payne. The second game titled ‘The Fall Of Max Payne’ also received critical acclaim. Both of these games were developed by Remedy and published by Rockstar. Max Payne 3 was both developed and published by Rockstar in 2012 also to great acclaim.

The decision to remake Max Payne 1 and Max Payne 2: The Fall Of Max Payne has been well received by fans of the series. The Max Payne series has been embedded into modern gaming culture ever since the release of the first game. The overall combat system and noir style cinematics and voice-over of Max during those scenes are considered unique to the series.

We can definitely be sure that Remedy will fully be engaged in the remaking of their masterpieces. The game is currently in the concept stages so there is still a long way to go. But we can expect a sneak peek later in the year or any update. Remedy’s recently released original game Control has received amazing reviews at launch. Another one of their games Alan Wake also had been remastered last year. So, graphically, we definitely will see huge improvements that are similar to these games or at the same level.
