Earlier this year, industry insider, Tom Henderson disclosed that there would be an unannounced Marvel game. Although there is no concrete information, Shpeshal Nick stated that it is being created by EA and confirmed the report. Fans of Iron Man may now, however, rejoice as EA is in fact developing an Iron Man video game.
In his podcast about the Xbox Era, Nick confirmed the Iron Man video game. Because he wasn’t sure which Marvel franchise the game was aimed towards, he didn’t want to hint at it earlier, but he said that the news is now confirmed.
Iron Man Game Could be Disclosed Today
Gamespot has revealed that an Axios source familiar with the project says it had still been in development. It also claims that the studio is Canadian. EA’s Bioware is the studio that is situated in Canada so they could be the obvious choice.
While the game is still in early development stages Gamespot reckons that the game could be showcased at the Disney D23 Marvel Showcase today. Also, take this information with a grain of salt as nothing is solid. More will be revealed at the showcase event today.
About the Game
With the first two Iron Man movies, the badly received SEGA tie-in games, and Crystal Dynamics’ Marvel’s Avengers, Iron Man has a long history in video games. Unfortunately, none of them have been a solid experience. According to reports, the Iron Man video game would be a single-player shooter. It will most likely be an open world, similar to the rumored Black Panther.
EA last made a Marvel game in 2005 called Rise of the Imperfect, which got mixed reviews from the fans. EA Bioware also made a game called Anthem in 2019 which could serve as a perfect model for Iron Man’s flight mechanism. Although the game wasn’t a hit due to poor combat mechanics, it was praised for its visuals and flight mechanics.
However, Iron Man isn’t the only game anticipated at the D2e showcase. We’ve heard reports that the much-rumored Black Panther game could be unveiled too. Also, rumors point to another Marvel game showcase which is being developed by Amy Hennig and Skydance studio. It is supposed to be a Black Panther and Captain America team-up game set in World War II.
The Marvel D23 showcase is set to take place today at 1 PM PT / 4 PM ET. Will you be watching the showcase and what are your expectations? Let us know in the comments.
