Sony has recently revealed their player loyalty program titled ‘Playstation Stars’. This loyalty program will be free to join for all players when it launches later this year. According to the announcement on the Playstation Blog, once players become members of the program, they will earn rewards by completing a variety of campaigns and activities.
Playstation Stars Loyalty Program: What We Know
As mentioned before, players will earn rewards by completing different types of campaigns and activities. There is a ‘Monthly Check In’ campaign that simply requires players to play any game to receive a reward. Additionally, other campaigns require them to win specific tournaments, earn specific trophies or be the first to platinum a ‘blockbuster title’ in their local timezone.
The points players earn while enrolled in the program can be redeemed via a catalog. This catalog may include PSN wallet funds and other PS Store products. PS Plus members who are enrolled in the program will earn points automatically for purchases in the PS Store as well.
Also revealed is the inclusion of Digital Collectibles. According to the announcement, ”Collectibles are as diverse as our portfolio of products and franchises. They are digital representations of things that PlayStation fans enjoy, including figurines of beloved and iconic characters from games and other forms of entertainment, as well as cherished devices that tap into Sony’s history of innovation. There will always be a new collectible to earn, an ultra-rare collectible to strive for, or something surprising to collect just for fun. ”
Sony is currently doing early tests on the program and before it launches this year in phased regional rollouts. Details of the program can be found here.
