The FTC hearing brought in tons of huge confessions and news as Microsoft looked to complete its Activision Blizzard acquisition deal. In the documents published during the legal battle, Microsoft revealed they expect Sony to launch a PlayStation 5 Slim edition at the same price as the PS5 digital edition.
The Reported PlayStation 5 Slim Could Cost the Same as PS5 Digital
The legal document suggests that the Slim edition of the PlayStation 5 could cost $400 same as the PS5 digital. Moreover, Microsoft also believes that a PlayStation 5 Pro is coming in the near future as well. The document states (VGC):
PlayStation, meanwhile, currently offers two different versions of the PlayStation 5, one with a Blu-Ray player for physical media (Standard) and one without (Digital), and is anticipated to release further differentiated Pro and Slim models in the near future.
While we haven’t heard much about the PS5 Slim, the PS5 Pro is something we’ve been hearing about for quite some time. Back in Tom Henderson confirmed that a PlayStation 5 Pro is 100% in development and that the dev kits would be rolling out from this year.
Historically, the PlayStation 4 Slim came out 3 years after the regular console and it looks like the same will be the case again. As for the PlayStation 5 Pro, according to the rumors it will make its way into the market in 2024.
