Sony’s recently acquired studio Firesprite is apparently working on a new AAA horror game according to a recent job listing. The posting on the studio’s website was for a Narrative Director. The game will also run on Unreal Engine 5.

It said that the person is ”responsible for the project storytelling, helping establish & consider the game’s universe and lore, with responsibility for the quality implementation of narrative content for project milestones and ultimately the game’s release.”

Firesprite’s New Game: What Could It Be?

At this point, this is the only indication that the studio is working on a new AAA game. Firesprite had been acquired by Sony in September 2021. The studio is already co-developing Horizon Call Of The Mountain with Guerilla Games. This is a game for the Playstation VR 2 and is a spin-off of the Horizon series.

In addition to that, Firesprite has also reportedly taken over the Twisted Metal reboot by Lucid Games. In addition to that AAA game posting, there is also a job posting for a Senior Narrative Designer for a multiplayer action game. It is unclear what this game might be but it looks like it could be the Twisted Metal reboot.

The Persistence (2018) by Firesprite

In terms of the AAA horror game, there is a high chance that it could be a new IP. The studio has already made the well-received horror game The Persistence. So, Firesprite might be looking to spice things up with a new horror game. It wouldn’t be a surprise if this new horror game will support the PlayStation VR 2. For now, we will have to wait and see what the studio comes up with.
