As the industry continues to go down the digital trend, Starfield physical copies won’t come with a disc. More and more companies are slowly opting to remove discs from physical editions. However, at this point, not all major releases are coming without physical discs, but this seems like a trend that’ll continue.
None of Starfield’s Physical Editions will Include a Disc
UPDATE: Bethesda has clarified that the Xbox version of the game will have a physical disc, but the PC version will have a digital code.
Starfield has a bunch of editions, including a Premium upgrade and a Constellation edition. Despite including collectibles and other stuff, they won’t include a disc. The news has been confirmed by Bethesda itself, answering a Twitter question posted by a user. (The Tweet has now been deleted, but you can verify it here).
Instead of a disc, physical editions will come with a download code. While yes, many of us nowadays prefer to buy digital editions, there’s a whole crowd out there that still prefers the physical discs. So, the decision to remove them altogether seems like a weird one.
It should be noted that Bethesda has since removed the Tweet. Now, the reason behind that is still unknown. We expect the studio to put out an official word soon. Till then you read about Microsoft’s upcoming space RPG here.
