The Callisto Protocol will have a 60 FPS performance mode as confirmed by the official Twitter account of the game. This spells a sigh of relief for players who are going to play the game as the recent A Plague Tale: Requiem and upcoming Gotham Knights will not possess a 60 FPS performance mode and instead run at 30 FPS.

In addition to that, the official Twitter account also confirmed that The Callisto Protocol would release on December 2, 2022, as announced before. Recently spotted in ResetEra, the Epic Store listing of the game was slated for February 12, 2023. Moreover, players were worried about this supposed delay and now they can wait for the game’s release as intended.

The Callisto Protocol Details

The Callisto Protocol is created by Striking Distance Studios, founded by the original EA title, Dead Space co-creator Glen Schofield. The game’s mechanics were also shown off for the first time in June’s Playstation State of Play.

The Callisto Protocol is set in the year 2320 on Jupiter’s “dead moon,” Callisto. The protagonist, Jacob Lee, a prisoner at Black Iron Prison on the moon, must fight for his life after a mysterious outbreak unleashes mayhem on the surface of the moon. Moreover, guards and prisoners alike are undergoing mutations that turn them into terrible monsters called Biophage. Now, Jacob has to battle to stay alive in Black Iron and learn the truth about the United Jupiter Company.

In addition to that, the recent ‘Truth of Black Iron’ Trailer for the game showed off Jacob Lee in action. The trailer displayed both the game’s jaw-dropping visuals and the tense survival horror element reminiscent of the Dead Space titles.

Schofield in the Playstation blog says, ”Callisto is an oppressive world that feels desolate, isolated, and puts players on edge. We spend a ton of time designing the lighting to create a sense of dread and keep players guessing about what’s in the shadows.” With the official Twitter account confirming the 60 FPS mode, the game will surely look and run spectacular when it releases.

The Callisto Protocol is set for release on December 2 on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
