According to industry insider Tom Henderson, The Last of Us Remake could aim for a release in the latter half of this year. He has heard from multiple sources that the game is nearing the finish. So, it isn’t unexpected that Naughty Dog would release later in the year. He has also said that the remake would release with the standalone Factions Multiplayer and The Last of Us 2 Director’s Cut. Both of these are also something to look forward to if they get released this year.
The Last of Us Remake
The Last of Us had been released on the Playstation 3 in 2013 to critical acclaim and became a massive commercial succes for Sony. The game has since received a cult following. Part 2 was released back in 2020 and had also received positive reviews.
Rumors last year indicated that Naughty Dog was working on a remake on the first game. There were also rumors that the game was being re-made for the Playstation 5 specifically. It further intensified when a Playstation job listing for a Technical Game Designer came up. The job role stated that the person will ‘implement existing gameplay systems into a new framework’. This could very well mean The Last of Us and Henderson’s tweet has seemingly confirmed that.
By the time the remake would seemingly come out, the HBO TV Series for the game will also be released. So, this will definitely help hype up the remake as indicated by Henderson. Fans of the series would also love to play it on the Playstation 5 with amazing graphics and smoother framerates. In the end, it’s a win-win situation for everyone.
